Grapple Menace

Made in 24 hours for the 24 Jam

Overview

Grapple Menace is a physics-driven playground where you swing, blast, and rocket jump through an infinitely generated world. Use your grappling hook to traverse gaps, launch grenades to reshape the terrain, and rocket jump to reach new heights. Every explosion changes the world, creating endless opportunities for chaotic fun.

Movement

The movement system is based on my previous game Neon Run. You can explore the open-source movement code here.

Rocket jumping and grappling are not included in the default Neon Run code, but the controller’s modular design made adding them super easy. The result is smooth, fast, and fun movement that feels good whether you’re swinging, blasting, or flying through the world.

Features

  • Infinitely procedurally generated world
  • Destructible terrain with grenade launcher
  • Grappling hook and rocket jumps for vertical and creative movement
  • Fast, fluid movement based on Neon Run’s system
  • Everything made by me during the 24-hour jam

About the Jam

This project was made in just 24 hours for the 24 Jam. I reused some of my existing movement code from Neon Run to save time, but every other system, asset, and mechanic in the game was made from scratch.

Play It

Jump in and see how far you can swing, blast, and rocket jump. The world is endless, and chaos is encouraged.
